MY CUBS WEEKEND TRIP TO SNOWDONIA – WITH R3P1C

On Friday 15th May 2015, I set off with the Knowle Apache Cub group for my first trip to Snowdonia. I had a special friend with me from Knowle Academy R3P1C ! It is year 4’s new project friend.

I felt excited to be finally going on the expedition the cubs have been talking about all year.  We arrived in Wales and to our lodge at 10 pm that night we had drinks and chats in our dormitory and stayed up until midnight. R3P1C and I were sharing with 12 other cubs. I hope they don’t snore too loudly!

Saturday morning we went for our trek around Snowdonia, I took some photos of R3P1C but missed the photo opportunity of him with the wild sheep that we saw that morning! I have a few of him on the stones!

In the afternoon ‘Arete’ outdoor pursuits company took us Caving. We had to wear a safety helmet, life jacket and we took our torches. In the caves we saw Stalagmites (growing from the floor) and Stalactites (hanging from the ceiling).  It was really cold.. cuddle up R3P1C!

We all went into an inflatable boat to sail across the water in the caves; it was so dark, cold and spooky! You could even see your own breath.

Those of us who were brave enough, were hooked up with harnesses to cross more water on the high wire. I zoomed across on the wire it was great fun!  Unfortunately, Raksha’s wire hit the water and she fell in with a big splash! Luckily, she saw the funny side and laughed despite the cold and wet.

In the evening we went to a restaurant, R3P1C and I had a burger.. yummy!

Sunday, the intrepid exploring cubs went Gauge walking, we had to climb along the waterfalls and jump into a freezing lake. My feet were so cold… I think R3P1C is lucky being a robot at least he doesn’t have to feel these temperatures!!

It’s been an awesome cubs weekend……. long journey back home but looking forward to my bed.

It was a sunny, spring and delightful afternoon, as R3P1C set on his very first thrilling adventure. It was to be a cycle ride. His first destination was a Tudor house called Baddesley Clinton. This was a comparatively easy trip along the country lanes. The challenge however, lay ahead….

Approaching at some speed, R3P1C, who was safely tucked away in my backpack, peered out observing the area surrounding him. The sight was stunning. The blue bells caught his attention more than anything. Swaying rhythmically, with the wind, the majestic flowers, with violet coloured petals, sat proudly, inside the forest. The adventure came to a halt when R3P1C sneaked a few fry’s [don’t tell him I told you!].

His second adventure was to be a classic car show. Transporting in a Porsche, R3P1C travelled to Stratford upon Avon along with Tom, Tom’s dad and sister Lauryn. It was to be another exhilarating day. As he peered out of Toms bag, he saw the most dude like, rose red car. It was to die for like seen on the camera. He saw a variety of unique classic cars. He finished his weekend with a can of coke and haribos.
